Trouble In Paradise?

With the Yankees being knocked out of first place by the Tampa Bay Rays they need to dig deep to regain their status as the powerhouse of the AL East. Not to discredit the talent and accomplishments of the Rays roster but the Yankees should have been able to hold the top spot throughout the entire 60 game 2020 season.

Like we saw last year, the Yankees have been ravaged with injuries but one thing has yet to be seen, heart. After going 6-0 in the first games of this 9 game home stand, Tampa came in and had their way in the Bronx with a 3 game sweep. Pitching and offense seemed lifeless and never showed they had the capability of matching up with the Rays.

The lineup is feeling the absence of Judge, Stanton and LeMahieu and then had another setback losing Torres during Thursdays game. Following the game it was revealed that Paxton had felt tightness in his arm and both players were heading for an MRI following the 10-5 loss that completed the sweep for the Rays. The Yankees need to find that drive from last year and the "next man up" mentality. Without that mindset it could be a long season for the players and the fans. After last year, despite all the injuries the Yankees still managed to win 103 games, here's hoping lightning can strike twice before the Yankees strike out on another chance to win the championship.
